Senior Back-End Engineer (f/m/x)

Your opportunity

We are looking for a highly experienced Back-End Engineer responsible for feature development and continuous improvement of our leading real-time auction platform. Your primary focus will be to develop new features and performance improvements for our existing event-driven middleware and microservices, and build highly scalable greenfield services.

This role is a senior appointment that offers you the opportunity to lead middleware and microservice development at AURENA Tech.

Your area of responsibility

  • Development of high-performance, horizontally scalable, Node.js and Java services in an event-driven distributed architecture using Kafka
  • Writing clean, idiomatic, well-documented code
  • Ensuring excellent test coverage via unit, integration and system tests
  • Designing and writing asynchronous code paths that need to incorporate graceful failure modes under peak load
  • Propose and evaluate alternate system designs and advocate for best fit

What makes you the right candidate?

  • At least 6 years of experience in the development of production-grade applications in either Node.js, Java or C++
  • Comfortable working in an event-driven microservice architecture
  • Experienced in interacting with databases (PostgreSQL, Redis)
  • Familiarity with one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Experienced designing and implementing REST and GraphQL APIs
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and extend boundaries
  • Committed, conscientious personality with the ability to direct others
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills in English, no German skills required
  • Enjoy autonomy and a responsible, self-directed way of working
  • EU citizen or valid work permit for the EU
